Getting vaccinated is the best way to protect yourself, your friends & family and coworkers against the spread of COVID-19. A single dose of the mRNA vaccine is not as effective as two doses (33% versus 88%) at preventing symptoms from the Delta COVID-19 Variant that is circulating in Ontario now. Get both your doses to have the best protection!

Let’s work together to reach a goal of 90% fully vaccinated by Sept 7th when school starts for most kids.

Statistics

  • Of the region’s population 12 years of age and over, 89.3% have first doses and 79.7% have second doses (as of August 7, 2021).
  • In youth 12–17, 76.7% have first doses and 54.7% are fully vaccinated.
  • 610 first doses were administered last week – Ages 18–29 have the lowest first dose rate of 70.4%. We encourage those 18–29 to check out the options for getting vaccinated below.
  • Our vaccination dashboard has all the details and will be updated again next Tuesday, August 17.

Vaccine Supply

  • We have plenty of Pfizer and Moderna vaccine available for the residents of Leeds, Grenville and Lanark. Our frozen supply of Moderna and Pfizer are expiring in November and December 2021.
  • Questions About Getting Vaccinated

    • Physicians have been offering their time to answer questions at some of our clinics for those who have questions about the vaccine. If you have questions, check our website to see when a physician is available for a consultation or contact your health care provider, or a pharmacist. Nurses are available to answer questions about the vaccine at 1-800-660-5853 extension 2222.
    • How to Get Vaccinated

      • All 12+ are eligible for a first dose anytime and can get a second dose:
      • 21 days after first dose of Pfizer
      • 28 days after first dose of Moderna (18+)
      • 8 weeks after first dose of AstraZeneca (18+)
      • Walk-in vaccinations are available at all clinics and there are several community clinics and mobile clinics at community events that will be happening in the next few weeks – we post on our website and on our social media pages times, dates and locations of these clinics.
      • More appointments continue to be available in all areas; book an appointment through the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark online booking portal or call Leeds, Grenville and Lanark Call Centre 1-844-369-1234 – you can also call to check the walk in schedule.
      • Transportation is available if needed. Check our link online.
      • Some workplaces are holding clinics on site – check with your employer to see if you have that option at your workplace.
      • Pharmacies have both Moderna and Pfizer – some have AstraZeneca for those who received it as a first dose. Check a participating pharmacy – you may have received a first dose at a pharmacy and did not get booked in for a second dose; you can get your second dose from any of the options posted here.
      • Students can still enter our Instagram Selfie Contest (@lglhealthunit.z) by posting a selfie with their reason for getting vaccinated.

Remember it is important to continue to follow precautions if you have one or even two vaccine doses. We need to keep protecting each other until we are all fully vaccinated.
