At its June 7, 2022, Council meeting, the Council for the Village of Westport approved the purchase of a National Capital Junior Hockey League (NCJHL) franchise.  The agreement was reached with the owner of the Bytown Royals and approved on June 6, 2022, by the League.

All hockey operations will be the responsibility of the Hockey Executive, headed up by Mr. Steve Merkley. The season begins on September 24, 2022.

The team is funded through player fees, sponsorship and fund raising.  The purchase price of $17,500 will be covered by donations.

Council is very excited about having a Junior C team calling Westport “home”.  We hope that the community comes out and joins their neighbours and friends to watch many local players hit the ice this fall.
