By-Law Enforcement & Education Officer

The Village of Westport is looking for an individual with strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, and strong relationship building skills combined with tact and diplomacy, proven skills in facilitation and conflict resolution to enforce and educate the community about by-law requirements.   Preference will be given to candidates with postsecondary education in police foundations, law and security or a related field with a minimum of one (1) year experience or an acceptable equivalent experience or education.  Up to 20 hours/week in June, July and August. Complaint driven for the rest of the year and will include some overnight parking enforcement in the winter. Start date – June 1, 2017. Rate of pay is $18.00/Hour.

Harbour Master

The Village of Westport is seeking an individual to act as Harbour Master at the Westport Municipal Harbour on a seasonal basis for the summer boating season. This position will be responsible for the operations and supervision of the Westport Harbour and will report to the CAO of the Village.   Applicants must have:

  • Experience in Boating and Customer service
  • Experience in dealing with monies/receipts/invoices/reports
  • A current Criminal Check and Vulnerable sector Check
  • Standard First Aid and CPR C Certificate required

Up to 35 hours per week from May 15th through to October 7th, 2017. Rate of pay is $16/hour.

Harbour Assistant

The Village of Westport is seeking an individual to assist the Harbour Master at the Westport Municipal Harbour on a seasonal basis for the 2017 summer boating season.   Preference will be given to candidates with boating experience, a customer service orientation, cash handling experience, and a courteous manner. Standard First Aid and CPR C Certificate required.

Up to 35 hours/week from June 1 to August 31, 2017. Rate of pay is $14/Hour.

Student Harbour Ambassador

The Village of Westport is seeking an individual to assist the Harbour Master at the Westport Municipal Harbour on a seasonal basis for the 2017 summer boating season. Preference will be given to student candidates with experience in general maintenance and boating as well as a customer service orientation, basic cash handling experience and a courteous manner. Standard First Aid and CPR C Certificate required.

 Up to 35 hours/week from June 1 to August 31, 2017. Rate of pay is $12/Hour.
